School History
Phyl’s Academy Preparatory School was founded in Brooklyn, New York in 1979. The founder, a registered nurse, Phyllis Frempong-Boadu, saw the desperate need for quality, affordable, day care. Since it’s inception, Phyl’s Academy has provided a curriculum that challenges and nurtures the early childhood students at tuition level affordable to working parents who want the best for their children.
By 1988, a branch was formed in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. This program quickly flourished, doubling its initial enrollment in the first year through old fashioned advertising, word of mouth of parents. Since its modest start, Phyl’s Academy Preparatory School has expanded to include Day Care, Elementary School, Middle School, After-School care, and Summer Camp. In 1989, these services were expanded to Miramar, Florida. In 1998, the Fort Lauderdale campus of Phyl’s Academy was moved to its present site and today fills the needs of hundreds of students and their families. In 2007, a campus was opened in Jonesboro, Georgia.
