Kindergarten
Current educational philosophy now supports and encourages young students to be introduced to reading. At Phyl’s Academy, we have always had this philosophy. In Kindergarten, we introduce children to the joy of reading through a curriculum based on discovery, observation and phonetic instruction. By the end of a Phyl’s Academy Kindergarten year, our students are reading fluently.
Our well-rounded curriculum includes reading, mathematics, social studies, science, art, and an introduction to computers. A Kindergartener’s daily schedule includes physical activities, learning centers, block play, storytelling, and lessons based on concrete activities that encourage our students to develop their physical senses. Each lesson is a hands-on experience where children explore as they learn.
With their developing skills and confidence, kindergarteners are well prepared to handle the Elementary School years that lie ahead.
