Message From Principal

Phyl’s Academy of South Florida started in 1988 to meet the growing need for quality affordable education. What started as a service for preschools on both the Miramar and Fort Lauderdale campuses, soon blossomed to elementary grades and then in Fort Lauderdale to elementary and middle school. The children are accepted from 1 year old and can continue to the 8th grade.

Besides offering the accredited academic courses which include a foreign language, the children are taught computer skills in our state of the art computer lab. The science lab and library are enhancements to the classroom information, and to make their education complete the children are exposed to music, poetry, art, dance, sports, and gardening.

All our teachers are trained to meet state standards. They are all fingerprinted, received First Aid training and submit medical evaluations annually. There is a vibrant sports program where our students compete within their leagues in soccer, basketball, and volleyball. We are not a religious school but we talk about God through Bible stories.

The children get to go on school field trips, both educational and recreational. They are transported by the school’s fleet of buses and on site bus drivers. The children and the teachers wear uniform. Our reasons are to reinforce discipline and so that the teachers are easily recognizable to even the youngest child.

Lunch is available from the cafeteria where lunch can be pre-ordered or bought as needed. We offer clubs one day a week for students who might be interested, and have a variety of extracurricular activities from which to choose.

Our goal is to nurture and educate every child who comes through our doors. We strive to do this with our very highly qualified, dedicated, and motivated staff, who meet our standards.

I hope your time will be well spent as you discover more about our program. I look forward to meeting you to discuss our program and hope you will join the Phyl’s Academy family.

Respectfully,
Monica Lewis
